Speak is a speakeasy-inspired coffee shop and art gallery in Himeji, Japan, run by Julio and Cyd, a visual artist.
They organize art exhibitions, live music events, art-related workshops, and creative gatherings, providing a platform for local and emerging artists to showcase their work.
Speak is also a creative space that brings together people who appreciate craft, culture, and conversation.

Logo
The logo draws inspiration from speakeasy bars and Art Deco, and features a three-winged crow inspired by Yatagarasu, a three-legged crow from Japanese folklore and mythology.
Cyd and Julio told me they appreciated branding that feels authentic and minimal, designs that let the product and atmosphere speak for themselves. They wanted their logo to convey sophistication, artistry, rooted in local design influences.
The crow is a recurring motif in Cyd’s art.
They wanted to use black, white and gold, and something elegant, simple, and refined, with a subtle Japanese touch.
